Installation Instructions

This release of ArticleBot is designed to run on Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems. Do not install ArticleBot on other systems.

ArticleBot uses a three step installation process. You will be installing three major components of the system. These three steps are referred to as steps A, B, and C below. It is important that the three installed components be installed in order.

Installation Step A:
If you are running Windows Vista you can skip step A and go directly to step B.

Step A installs the "Microsoft Dot Net Framework 3.0" software. This is a collection of small programs and libraries that all programs written in the Microsoft Visual Studio.Net language require. If you know that your computer already has the Microsoft Dot Net Framework 2.0 or higher installed, you can proceed to Installation Step B now.

Is the Dot Net Framework Already on my Computer?
If you are unsure if you have the Microsoft Dot Net Framework 2.0 or higher installed on your computer, you can click on "Start" in the lower left or your desktop and then click on "Control Panel". In the Control Panel window, click on "Add/Remove Programs" and scroll down the list to find "Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0". It will look like the image below if you click on it.

If Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 or 3.0 is in your Add/Remove Programs list, you can skip Installation Step A and proceed to Step B. If not, click on the lin below:

Installation Step B:
Step B installs the MySQL 5.0 data base software. ArticleBot uses MySQL to store your data. If you know that you already have MySQL installed on your computer, you can skip to Installation Step C now.

Installation Step C:
Step C installs the ArticleBot program, MySQL data files and the the required drivers.

Click on the link below to download the ArticleBot installation file to your desktop.

Caution! Be sure to install ArticleBot in the default folder "c:\program files\articlebot\". In some non english versions of Windows this folder exist under a different name. This will cause errors in the installation process. If this folder does not exist, create a "c:\program files\articlebot\" folder. Do not attempt to install ArticleBot on a drive other than drive C.
