Step B Install MySQL 5.0
Ready to Install Click the link above and follow the detailed instructions below. After double clicking on the download link you may see the image below. This will depend on you security settings. If you see this window click on "Save" to continue. When asked where to save the file on you computer, save it to your desktop as shown below. Note that "Desktop" appears in the "Save in" window. After the download is complete, you will see the Icon below on your desktop. Be sure that no other programs are running on your computer and then double click on this icon. You may see the security warning below. Click on "Run" to continue. The downloaded installation file will be automatically unzipped in to the folder "C:\_abot". In the window below click on "Finish" to allow the program to proceed. You may see this window below when the files are unzipped. If not, do not be concerned.
After Unzipping the downloaded file the installation will begin. You will first see the windows below. Leave this window open. When the window below appears, click "Run". When the window below appears, click "Next". When the window below appears, select "Typical" and then click "Next" When the window below appears, click "Install". When the window below appears, select "Skip Sign-Up" and then click "Next". When the window below appears, check "Configure the MySQL Server now" and click "Finish". When the window below appears, click "Next". When the window below appears, select "Standard Configuration" and click "Next". When the window below appears, check all three check boxes as shown and click "Next". When the window below appears, Check "Modify Security Settings" and enter the password "abot" in two places. Be sure to check all three check boxes. This is very important. Your MySQL password will be either blank or "abot". When the window below appears, click "Execute".
If the error window below appears, you probably have your fire wall set to block MySQL or you have and old database with a different password than "abot". Tell your Firewall to permit MySQL to access your system and delete any old databases. When you are finished you will see the window below. |
