Install MySQL 5.1.44

Before you Install:

Before you install MySQL 5.1.44 be sure that you have uninstalled any older versions of the program and data.

These removal steps are required:

  1. If you want to save your old data, go to the MySQL documentation at http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/.
  2. Go to your Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Programs. (Programs and Features in Vista)
  3. Find MySQL in the installed programs list and remove it.
  4. Look on your hard drive under C:\Program Files\MySQL\ and delete any remaining files or folders. In particular, delete or move the data folder. If you do not delete the data folder you may get an error when installing the new release.

Select the 32 or 64 bit installation package.
You can go to your "Control Panel" and click on "System" to see if you have a 32 or 64 bit operating system.

Click one the links above and follow the detailed instructions below.

After double clicking on the download link you will see the image below. Click on "Run" to continue.

Click on Next when the window below appears.

Select "Typical" and then click on "Next" in the window below.

Click on "Install" in the window below.

Click "Next" in the window below.

Click "Next" in the window below.

Check on "Configure the MySQL Server Now" and then "Finish".

When the window below appears, click "Next".

When the window below appears select "Standard Configuration" and then click "Next".

Check all three check boxes shown below and then click on "Next".

When the window below appears check all three check boxes and enter "abot" in both text windows.

When the window below appears click on "Execute".

When the window below appears, click on "Finish" to complete the Step B MySQL installation..
